Mechanically the engine's exhaust system is in perfect working order and original aside from the aftermarket catalytic convertor I had installed. \n\nIn Mexico, which has emissions laws in most jurisdictions, it is commonplace in older vehicles to remove emissions components to improve performance and simply pay the smog test officials to pass a vehicle. Unsurprisingly, this bus had it cat removed, so I installed one to see if I could get it to pass. \n\nA superior catalytic convertor is most likely the answer, but it also is contingent on the standards your state or city has in place.
