This is most likely the reasoning behind the Gold color selection that BMW chose. I own a Chamonix E9, and I'm sure that BMW was referring to the snowy-white region of the French Alps. Any replaced parts were bought directly from BMW, as he could at the time. He even bought a correct factory Batmobile kit for it, which as can be seen was once fitted to the car. The car was used very rarely as it was more a beautiful object to him, rather than a mode of transport and eventually the car ended up being sold in a London auction about 12 years ago. \r\n\r\nThis CSL was then bought by a very well known collector in Salt Lake city, who has owned a few very special CSLs and he kept this one for about 10 years, again driving very little, as he has many collector cars. In that time, he improved on the original restoration, including the head as mention by SF Don below. \r\n\r\nAbout two years ago, Peter purchased the car from the above owner in Salt Lake, owner was downsizing and Peter just loved the color and of course knew the owner and a little about the car.
