I've owned more cars then I can recall from memory. This 1958, 348, convertible reminded me that back in 1969 I was \"gifted\" the identical car in turquoise by a fraternity brother. His transmission leaked oil and the car sat immobile so long that the college said they would tow it away at his cost. I told him I'd get it out for the title. Deal struck I went to PEP Boys, got several quarts of transmission oil and got the Impala to move. Only first gear worked and I drove the thing to my family home some 20 miles away. Sold the car \"as is\" to some local kid the next month for $200...big profit margin back then. I recall seeing the kid tearing around town in first gear with the 348 roaring and spewing smoke out the tailpipes.
