Tons of records from the last 20+ years from the previous owner who is meticulous. From the 4-inch thick binder to a personal car journal, there are many more records than what is shown in the gallery, so if there is something in particular anyone would like to see, please just send me a message.\r\n\r\nRegarding the total mileage, the odometer was repaired on August 8, 2016 with 105,906 km with a replacement unit that showed 45,170 km. So with the current odometer reading 47,071 km, the true total mileage is just under 108tkm (~67k miles). The overall condition of the car certainly seem to support the mileage, but any and all inspections are welcomed/encouraged.\r\n\r\nI tried my best to present the car in its actual condition. The only signs of corrosion is on the bottom of the trunk near the spare tire, but it is all surface rust. That's it. For an unrestored Karmann-bodied 2000CS, that is pretty unbelievable (since a majority of these are rusted out).\r\n\r\nI will be uploading paint meter photos within the next day or two (rain depending). It appears to me that the cars could be specified in almost any combination of colors the customer desired such as the red center console with a black lower dash and door trays to match in red or black. I have owned a few of these with various color combinations so i think to find one with all red would be pretty rare as well. So awesome that the seller happened upon a brochure with the all red dash and center console. The car bodies were assembled and painted in Osnabr\u00fcck and then shipped to Munich for assembly. Consumers at that point could request whatever they wanted with their 2000cs from a \u201creserve package and special equipment\u201d list (things like ski racks, limited slip differentials, Koni shocks, seat belts, head rests, sport cams, electric front windows, etc.) and with this freedom of choice, buyers most likely could choose a desired color interior. But demand was there. So, BMW sent 147 to a specialist in England to convert to RHD models. I am lucky enough to have one, a 1968, in original condition, except for the paint, which was changed from Chamonix white to a mustard orange with a black roof by the son of the original owner. It's a gorgeous car. Parts can be difficult to find. Mine sat around for too long and the valve springs needed replacing. Very hard to source but not impossible as other models can be used. Such a unique looking BMW and so rare that they get attention wherever they go. The front grill always brings comments. I see it as kind of a frumpy 60s look. As the father of the E9, you can see how the metamorphosis took place, given the rear is almost identical. As neat as these typ120s are, they are not and never will have the appeal of their successor the e9 or even the 2002s. I couldn't see one selling for more than $60k. I guess there have been instances, but not on BaT. I do love them, but they are a dead end on the BMW evolution tree. BMW conceived of them as a sport coupe but with a smooth ride and luxury touch. They are heavy, underpowered and ride high compared to the competition. A failed experiment and BMW knew it. They really were only produced for two years (with 65 and 68 being a few crumbs left on the plate). They over produced them in 1966 and couldn't get them off the lot in Munich. Production numbers began to drop in 67 (with 66 model cars reaching the US a year plus later and being registered as 67 models). By 68 Hofmeister had Georg Betram (and maybe Manfred Rennen) essentially graft the front end of an e3 (of sorts) on to the Michelotti CS design. It is that rare and pristine, and to restore one properly to this level (much like the e9 and now even the 2002) would set you back over $100k. To be fair, you are correct, the typ120 gave birth to CS models decades following (or\u2026 was it the 3200cs?) I say \u201cevolutionary dead end\u201d based on Fritz Fiedler\u2019s calculated assumption in 1963-5 that consumers would embrace a sports coupe centered around a comfortable ride based on a hand-crafted coach-built luxury cabin. That\u2019s not what people wanted and not at the price. That concept died. BMW was coming out of the 1950s bygone era of the lumbering V8 \u201cbaroque angels\u201d and an overpriced, cost prohibitive 3200cs that some stated rode like a tractor. They were still trying to find their way. The 2000c/cs was well intended, and even daring, but \u201chalf baked\u201d in a collective automative concept evolution. The beauty of the Michelotti design was the foundation for a new era. I think (just me) that it died and was reborn. Nick \u201chates to say it\u201d but the 2000c/cs \u201cinspired the current design language at BMW\u2026\u201d \u201cHate to say it\u201d is right. That\u2019s not something to brag about. I will disagree though and will argue that the robust Chinese market and their preference for the big, overpowering grill treatments (on all brands) is really the reason for BMWs design choices in the past decade. Some in BMWs\u2019 Carrosserie have admitted as much. To this day, from my decades of observation, the public is divided on the 2000c/cs. Either you love em, or you hate em. Everybody LOVES the e9. The typ120 is an oddity. I do love them and think they deserve celebration. I spent nearly a decade rebuilding the chassis on one on a rotisserie that arguably should have been sent to the crusher. My favorite version was a restomod by one of BMW SoCal\u2019s favorite sons whom you all probably know who dropped an S14 in one, lowered it with coil overs, gave it a wider stance. I thought I remember it being featured on Jalopnik years back. It was perfection. I would love to see them sell for $75k and above, but none at auction on BaT have ever broken $55K.
