This one appears to be very nicely done, mods and all. \n\nMy car had the same suspension set up, which is about as good as it gets. These cars still don't handle as well as their coupe siblings, but they are sublime topless drivers (there is chassis flex). Unlike a roadster, I could literally fit my family of four in the car without any complaints. \n\nI had never seen a hard top in better condition than mine, but this one appears to be its rival. They are very rare, especially in this condition. I would value it as $2000 or about the same value as some run down E30 325ic. With the hard top on, the car becomes much quieter and feels totally coupe-like. Several people got into my car with the hard top on not realizing it was a vert. \n\nThere is not a lot to nitpick here, but some nits. Some folks don't like the rear head rests, which are not stock. They look terrific, but impede rear visibility. The antenna appears to be stuck at half mast. Replacing it is about a $100 DIY job. I never trust mileage on E30s without documentation, because the odometer gears fail so frequently (postponing mileage build up). \n\nMore pictures would be necessary for me to bid with confidence. I would want underside pictures, rockers, inner fenders, license plate lights, etc. I would also want a picture of the trunk - including under the carpeting, the spare wheel well (under the spare), and in the tool kit. Those areas will show rust if either the third brake light or trunk seal leak.\n\nFinally, my informal survey of folks at the Vintage BMW event in NC revealed that close to half of them had roof leaks to some degree. The leaks can eventually be eliminated, but it is often a slow process of elimination. Interior leaks reveal themselves in musty smells, stained carpets, and rust under the carpets.\n\nThe seller of this car really put something special together. It looks fantastic and probably drives just as well. Parts are still cheap and readily available, and you can fix just about anything with a metric socket set, a screwdriver, and wrenches. I have an '89 4-door with a similar grouping of AC Schnitzer parts. That red interior is a beauty as is that unobtanium steering wheel! A word on the maintenance - mine has 44,000 miles (Japan import) and the amount of maintenance that was required to get it running right again is not for the faint of heart. Low miles meant that any system that had liquids had to be redone - gas tank (fuel varnished), fuel pump, radiator, water pump, timing belt, master cylinder and then a suspension refresh... There is something to be said for the time capsule aspect, but if a car isn't driven, rot will occur. Kudos to the seller for investing in a rare an beautiful car. And to the buyer - don't forget to drive it like it was meant to be!
