Only the Emira comes close. \r\n- It's fast. Really fast. I previously ran an Exige S260 - and I really like the high-revving 2ZZ - but this 2GR is out of this world. It pulls like a Model S when you get the revs up.\r\n- It's light. It's the same weight as my Exige with nearly double the usable power.\r\n- Brakes are unreal. It's easily the hardest-braking car I've ever driven. It inspires a lot of confidence.\r\n- Everybody wants a ride. Not everybody has a strong stomach.\r\n- It's nice to have a factory-built race car. It has simple electrical and fuel cutoffs, a fire extinguisher, and everything's pretty easy to access.\r\n- The rear view mirror is useless.\r\n- You can mount a 360 camera on the rollbar and get some gorgeous on-track video.\r\n- The motor is a bit high up. Some people complain about this. Combined with the heavy weight distribution in the back it can be a bit twitchy. Cup2s will talk to you, listen to them.\r\n- You can't do anything stickier than Cup2s on this car. I've spoken to Lotus Motorsport and they advise against slicks. You could blow the (wet-sumped) motor.\r\n- The whole body is carbon fiber. Don't ball it up. It looks great though.\r\n- So much carbon fiber, in fact. That little 3-inch high windshield? Don't even think of drilling it for a camera or AiM Solo or anything. It would cost $100 if it were fiberglass, but it's carbon and something like $1500 to replace.\r\n- Paragon sells cheaper 2-piece rotors and sells the wear surfaces individually. Otherwise you're buying OEM 2-pieces at an obnoxious ~$1400 a piece.\r\n- You can find replacement OEM wheels online from the UK for cheaper than you think. It's nice to have an extra set.\r\n- You'd be surprised how well it handles on Cup2s.\r\n- It has a battery protection fuse. If you forget to hit the electrical cutoff and you don't put a battery tender on it, you've got to pull the fuse to get it going again. Took me a while, the first time around. It saved the battery though.\r\n- No, you can't drive it on the streets. Yes, this is stupid. Yes, it's crazy that the jagoff in the Slingshot can drive on the street and you can't. Are you brave? You could maybe work something out. But I wouldn't put a car like this at risk of being crushed.\r\n\r\nFeel free to ask me any other ownership questions. In S3 Loti and the Evora they added plastic (!) baffles to the oil pan to fix starvation issues that plagued the S2 Elise/Exige, but it requires maintenance every 2 years. Indeed, the PDF I have titled \"3-Eleven Maint Sched - Road Models Only\" indeed suggests replacing these baffles every 18k miles or 2 years, similar to the Evora GT and UK-spec Evora 430.\r\n\r\nSo that said: you can probably do a little to help the situation, but will it get you on slicks? Yes, it can get a bit twitchy because of the mid-rear engine but it will speak to you and the Michelin Cup 2's are the way to go. You can also add a custom-built exhaust (from Italy) to gain 25-30hp bringing the total to 440, which makes for great noises both inside and outside the cockpit. It is generationally better than the 2-Eleven (which I also ran for 6 years), albeit about 500lbs heavier but much more HP. I'd say it's slightly more practical, but only a bit of course. You can drive it fairly peacefully if you want. Evora's can be decently civilized, and so you could just think of it as the topless Evora that never was (until you want to get out that is & remember there's no doors). The Lotus has reasonable service intervals if you are sticking to mostly road (or typical road + occasional track day) - Radicals are a little less forgiving in this regard. (think sealed ball joints vs. unsealed rod-ends, that sort of stuff). Body panels on the Lotus will be a smidge heavier + less stress-crack prone, Road version of the 3-Eleven has a standard gearbox, so no periodic tear down + service is required like you have with the sequential boxes used in the Radicals (and race 3-Eleven).\r\nAnd... most importantly of all, the optimal ride height of around 140mm on the 3-Eleven is friendly enough that you won't be stranded by a speed bump & can make it into most parking garages. Very important when you want to stash the car in a nearby parking garage when you decided to drive it to a business meeting, but then realize that maybe you don't want to show up in it. \r\n\r\nAside from all that, I can pretty much confirm what the other 3-Eleven owners have said here. GT3-RS is a smidge faster, standard GT3 is a bit slower around your average track when all are driven equally well. Top speed in the 3-Eleven will be lower than either though and so you'll have less time to enjoy the corners, but you might enjoy them more. \r\nIt is very easy to up the power over stock if for some reason you decide it needs more. Komo-Tec over here has sorted out pretty much anything you need & motor is same as Evora (and Camry), so you shouldn't have a problem finding a competent shop in the US as well. Consumables are simple - pads & (not stock) rotors from PFC, so zero problems there. Standard Toyota engine filters. Tires are maybe the one blah spot as availability in stock sizes is Cup 2's PS4S, or AO52's & not much else. I know I'm the only one in the world that feels this way, but I'm not in love with Cup 2's on the car.
