These were a \"1-year only\" (1983) production bike for the US market but some of the other World Markets got them for at least 2-3 years ('82-'84). US Market bikes had different wheels...being a solid 1-piece cast aluminum type. The other markets got a set of \"gold\" in color rims with a flat-riveted design...called \"Gold Boomerang Comstars\". I'm thinking the 1/4 fairing was another US model design...with some of the Euro market models having no fairing or a larger frame mount full fairing. Model designations were different also...with the frame-mounted fairing model designated as the CB1100R/BD...\"Super Bol D'Or\". \n\nDuring this period...Honda had offered the US public 3 series of big bore CB/F models...the CB750F...the CB900F...and their big-brother CB1100F. The CB1100F was somewhat a tweaked CB900F...and both of these bikes set Motorcyclist Magazine's \"World Records\" for 24-Hour Endurance Runs at Willow Springs Race Track...with the CB1100F covering 1,801 miles in 24-hours...breaking the previous record set by the CB900F of 1,690 miles! Additionally with a \"Cycle World Magazine\" test...the CB1100F set (at that time) the fastest ever 1/2-mile run-test...reaching 141MPH.\n\nI found & bought one in the Red/White color scheme in Hershey Pa...sometime around around 1998. Owned it until 2013...begrudgingly selling it to help fund a business venture. One of my all-time favorite bikes in my 56 year history of motorcycling. And, the longest owned bike of the some 75 that I've had in an \"ever rotating\" collection of bikes! \n\nMine had a Bassani Super-Bike series 4 into 1 competition exhaust system on it (rather loud)...a Corbin Color-Matched leather seat (red & white)...and the lower Super-Bike bend handlebars. The rear sets peg position is also further back, along with different pegs, shifter and rear brake pedal. The rear cowling had a grab rail. The front bars were fork tube mounted, had a round head light and different gauge cluster (similar to the '79cbx).\n\nColours were the same for the Canadian and American market, blue and red (too late to go downstairs and look up the honda names and codes). I think the European markets may have had addition colours, not sure of the Australian or NZ market. \n\nIt was only on offer in Canada for 1983. \n\nI had two MTC big bore kits at one time, and thought I still had one left but I must have sold it along with a couple of spare used tanks that I had kicking around. I know I have a brand new still in the box right hand side cover some where and maybe a set of megacycle cams.\n\nThe Sprague (ball and ramp, etc) clutches had a habit of spider cracking on the 1100f's. If you do a google/ youtube search there is a gentleman who figured out that a Yamaha Sprague will work with just some minor modes. It felt notably faster than my 1982 Kawasaki GPz1100. The riding position was seriously dorky though, with a very upright position with the pegs WAY too far forward. I later learned from a Swedish buddy who also has one that the Euro bikes had a much better setup. He went to a moto junkyard over there and got me the complete package\u2014different brake pedal, shifter, peg brackets, peg, and rear motor mount bolt. It transformed the way the bike felt. \r\n\r\nThe brakes left a lot to be desired compared to my Kawasakis (I also have an Eddie Lawson Replica) which might be down to pads. I planned to install new EBC pads, but then on the same day the charging system quit and the clutch seized. Bad day. It\u2019s been parked awaiting repairs ever since. \r\n\r\nMy best friend from college had a blue one which was awesome. He parked it and it sat for 25 years. I recently arranged for it to be sold to a guy living near me. He treated it right, gave it a full restoration. We found a complete foot peg sport kit (oddly, different from the Euro kit but broadly similar) at a swap meet last year. It sold for \"what someone was willing to pay for it\". Not an insane dollar amount...but a good amount that keeps the the imagined value of this rare model strong. Considering what 2 of Honda's 1993 CBR900RR models had sold for here on BaT (w/i the last 2 years or so)...@ $50K & $52K ...this CB1100F was a \"sane deal\"! Or $25K+ for a 1986 Honda Z50RD!!!
