I am ignorant when it comes to this Suzuki Ram Air two stroke. However, given your obvious admiration for Maico's engine, your endorsement of the Suzuki Ram Air leads me to regard this two stroke as an excellent powerplant. Back in '75 when this Suzuki was manufactured, Maico's (radial head) 125 was rated at 25 HP, an amazing feat by any standard. My purpose is to point out that there are several bikes from this era that collectively represent a sea change in the advancement of motorcycles' performance. They deserve to be preserved, enjoyed and appreciated for what they are. I replaced the rings at 28K needing just honing of the cylinders. I imagine treated well and driven sanely the engine would go close to 50K before needing rings. As a teen I over revved and went everywhere at 90+ mph and the triple would not die. Traveled out of state once and rode just under 900 miles in one day stopping only long enough for gas, chug a coke and to relieve myself. With chambers, milled heads, pod air filters and hotter coils along with Dunlop TT100's they could hold their own street racing with RD's. They would flex a bit and slide some but one could learn to live with it. The RD's my friends had would usually seize at some point in their hard lives or suffer heat fade, but not the Suzuki.
