I believe this is one of the rarest colors. The entire time I was a Ford mechanic I've only seen a few this color on maybe 2 cars and we sold a lot of Mark VIIIs!\r\nI have a couple of questions, thanks!\r\n1. Does the overdrive button work, and also display on the dash? it's usually the button that dies and it's a very minor job to replace but I've never done one. They took quite a few years to fail and I wasn't a mechanic anymore by then so I'd never replaced one. Common.\r\n2. does the transmission shutter in between gears? Common issue, all will do this if #3 not done:\r\n3. Has the transmission fluid been changed to synthetic? and if it has been serviced, was it a flush or a complete drain and torque converter drain?\r\nthere was a technical service bulletin (TSB) from Ford in 1993 or 1994 that said to replace all the fluid with synthetic and install an aftermarket cooler. Sadly dealerships and customers alike ignored this and had to replace transmissions after the warranty expired. One of my marks has the shutter, still working after 2 years of that. Miles may vary (let off gas pedal when it happens to make it stop)\r\n4. do you know any more about the oil change history? I only see two on the Carfax and one was recent. These aluminum engines are harmed greatly by lack of oil changes (should be done with synthetic, changed every 6000 miles max and 4000-5000 if you drive them hard, ignore the service manual any anyone who thinks they know about these cars!)\r\n5. Are the load leveling air bags still working and not leak or were they replaced with the conversion kit (If I remember right it's similar to what the Thunderbird has. I had it done on one of my Marks for $800 all 4 wheels and I can't tell the difference between the ride!)\r\n\r\nNote to buyer: Get \"Jerry's Mod\" done to the valve body. it's basically just changing a couple of valves in the valve body with other Ford parts and drilling two (?) holes in the valve body plate. That is a genuine factory part, not aftermarket. I can't remember if the fronts or the rears lined up perfectly with the wheel well bolts but you had to drill one hole in the other ones. pretty nice example. as far as something else that will always go wrong, unless these cars are waxed and garged and kept dry, the paint will bubble up and come off of the fiberglass hood (Yes it's fiberglass) I currently own three Mark VIIs, My black 94 has the paint falling off of the hood now, and the white 94 that had been repainted around 2000, is missing an entire 3\" strip of paint on the hood as well (poor repair). I just bought a '93 with 22,000 miles, even that paint is bubbled on the hood in a few spots, yet the rest of the car looks brand new underneath. like I said, this is a very good example AND I believe is the most rare exterior color. some of the only differences between the 94/93 were badging on the rear decklid and many got the Lincoln emblem embroidered into the seat. most of them ripped at the stitching. The technical service bulletin recommended Ford brand synthetic transmission fluid. That fixed a lot of cars that had the shuttering problem. If it has an aftermarket transmission cooler somewhere in front, I would be 100% certain instead of 99%. Our dealership used Hayden brand coolers because they were decent.
