Here are some thoughts from my 1 year of ownership for prospective bidders. Overall, the XLR-V is a great car. You *will* get attention in this while driving, while getting gas, while pulling up at your local car event. The power delivery is smooth, and the car rides and drives like a normal car under 50% throttle. Once you get on it, it will squat and haul. Burnouts, if they're your thing, are no trouble to do. Let me talk about handling a bit. In stock form, the car is pretty soft and does not quite feel sporty enough for how it looks. At higher speeds around fast sweeping turns, I felt uneasy about pushing the car much at all. The car's handling limit might be higher than it feels, but I was not willing to explore that without modifying the car. Since the chassis is a C6 Corvette, you can bolt-on anything you want from a Corvette. Without getting into too many technicalities, the chassis is closer to a C6 than it is to a C5 - let's just leave it there. My XLR-V now has C6 Z06 springs and sway bars as well as Z06 brakes and rotors. I am also running an OEM 19x10 wheel with 275/285 tires. The car now handles *exactly* how the car looks. It's stable and secure without being harsh or choppy. I can hustle it around turns with confidence. Also, the cost to buy these parts is ridiculously inexpensive because no C6 Z06 owner is buying these parts - they're going with something aftermarket. Adding bluetooth is easy via one of those bluetooth receivers that hijacks the XM satellite unit - plug and play. The sound system is good, and the speakers in the seats actually make music sound better. Fuel economy is decent - 20-21 mpg combined unless you're romping on it often. The hard top is known to have some issues, so be sure to check that out if you're worried. The LC3 Northstar is not prone to any major issue that I am aware of. Plenty of 100K+ mileage units out there from XLR's and STS's. I do not think you'll be disappointed with this vehicle. It's *super* rare, especially in V trim. Come on guys its a GM car built on a C6 chassis with blown Northstar motor. Anyone who has been driving a C4 on up to the current Corvette knows for the most part these cars are pretty reliable, and can be driven daily, and as long as the oil has been changed regularly, and the car is not showing any signs of being beat, or has any red flags on the Carfax it should be good for the most part. I personally have a 2005 XLR that I purchased as one of my drivers with 28k miles. 4 years later now at 58k miles it runs and drives great still, and i will probably drive it for another 5 years. I change the oil every 5k and coolant a coolant service just to do it, but it is still a 15 year old car and things will come up, but that you cannot help like a bad module for example. This car appears to be a very nice example based on the ad and the pictures, and at the current bid of just over 18k it is a bargain. Somebody will get a very nice car in a great color combo. I've owned four cars that never went back to the dealer for warranty work. In fact, I tend to avoid dealers simply becuase they too costly. This is not to say that aren't times when a dealer is the best option but there are many alternatives to dealer-provided services. \n\nLike many people, I prefer to have my car repaired by a mechanic I trust.
