These are amazing sedans. Maybe the very best used luxury sedan on the market. Mine had 250k miles when I sold it. I understand it is still running just fine having cleared 300k sometime ago. \r\n\r\nWhen I was working for Toyota as a designer, this was just coming out. I had done some work for their budding Lexus division so was invited to a showing of this car to the staff. I could not believe it when they said it was going to be $35k. I could not conceive of a Japanese Luxury Sedan in that price range. I was so impressed, I wound buying mine just a few years later. \r\n\r\nA year after they came out, several dealers had noted issues with starters needing replacement by customers stating the car would not start. Upon careful study from Toyota, they determined that all the cars that were in for starter repair or replacement were due to elderly clientele continuing to try and start the car while it was still running. \r\n\r\nThe car was so quiet while running that people thought it was not running at all. \r\n\r\nFantastic example of a really fine car with tons of use remaining. Two had brake issues (pedal going to the floor) - I understand that is not uncommon. The other problem was the Telescoping and tilting steering wheel. The Tilting issue can be resolved with a replacement washer, or an improvised spacer, but the telescoping issue - if not just a simple contact cleaning - is a $1200 plus repair (per online forum).
