Performance is hugely improved both by the transmission and the engine upgrades. Mine too was a 1976 car, which is only problematic potentially if you live in California like I did at the time as 1976 and newer cars must meet smog requirements in the state. Not always easy with an older Jag like this (ask me how I know!). My car was Dark Blue over biscuit leather with a show quality repaint and new leather and much more done to it as I wanted to show the car, which was a much appreciated addition to the many all British shows I entered it into and won a number of awards. Many people had never seen an XJ6C before and never knew they existed! Two people over the years loved my car so much, they specifically set out to find one for themselves which they did. Mine had the stock \u201cFederal\u201d bumpers which are not as pretty as the euro bumpers on the auction car, but I wanted to keep mine stock for show purposes. Much nicer with the smaller bumpers and 7\u201d headlights as they came on ROW XJ6Cs. These cars drive very nicely and so modern in many ways and suited for todays roads. The rebuilt engine with rebuilt 4 speed automatic tranny surely makes the auction car much more useable. The cosmetic issues can be dealt with and fixed (for a price!). My bare metal repaint was quite expensive. Overall, this looks to be a nice driver in its present condition. These cars have seen an uptick in values and in admiration over the past few years as well as it should be considering the rarity and beauty of these cars. The air conditioner had a leak somewhere and would only work for a few weeks. If you stopped somewhere on a hot day better plan to spend 45-60 minutes because it wouldn\u2019t fire up for a bit. It tended to diesel on shut down. I found a disconnected wire in the engine bay which the wiring diagram showed was the \u201canti run-on valve.\u201d I cheerfully reconnected it, patted myself on the back and the next day the battery was stone cold dead. All that said, I have never driven a car that made me feel so wealthy, and to this day it remains my wife\u2019s favorite car. For the price, you're getting a new bumper that won't (shouldn't) rust. The alternative is to source used bumpers, deal with getting them shipped, then repair and rechrome them. \r\n\r\nIt looks like they may have redesigned the front overrider to work better without the little rubber bumper. When I last looked at these, they had followed the factory pattern, but with no mounting hole, and it looked odd without that rubber. As I believe that bit of rubber is NLA, it's probably for the best that the overrider is now better suited to do without.\r\n\r\nIf you search you'll find what else is needed to do the conversion, but off the top of my head, you will need Euro-spec hinges, front parking/signal lamps, and lower grille. \r\n\r\nThings I'd like to know about them:\r\n\r\n* Any difficulties in fitting? HVAC controls all work as well as all 4 power windows.
