I've had 29 FSJs over the years and still have an '83 J10 sportside... son has an '85 GW... I think '73 was the only year that Quadratrac and drum brakes on the front were a thing. This is a BEAUTIFUL truck. (can get the exact specs if requested, will need to know which model J4000 it is... 4500, 4600, 4700 or 4800 - or the GVW, 5,6,7 or 8k! Regardless of the spring rate, they have amazing visibility and are just so easy to work on compared to the newer vehicles. This one looks great! And... if you're not using it to haul heavy stuff you could easily swap the springs or specific leafs... I took my J10's spring packs apart and gathered up inner leafs from Wagoneers that had more arch and selected several that had a nice \"spring\" to them... rebuilt the packs and picked up a couple of inches of lift with a nice ride. Scratch my comment about the Dana 60 front axle, I was thinking this was 3/4-1 T rated... the J4500 is the lightest weight version of the J-truck, long wheel base... WHICH IS IDEAL REALLY! I suppose it doesn't matter, if I dropped a 6.2/TH400 combo in this the most I'd have to change is the output shaft to the QT, or go with the Dana 20 or Dana 300 to get the right drop... This is a beautiful truck and now that I know it's not the 3/4T version I'm going to be tempted... despite the fact that I already HAVE a J10... (family and friends keep intervening and reminding me of this fact... it's quite funny and comforting).
