He chose not to install them as a matter of preference. Someone previously stated that many others have chosen to take them off so I'm not sure there is a real life benefit to their use at any rate. They're not used on the standard TD cars. Maybe someone watching this can provide input based upon experience. As far as the clock goes in my experience the clocks are most commonly not working. I've owned a 1965 Porsche and a 1962 where neither of them had working clocks. I'll check with the owner and see if the clock is available ( as well as the carbs). If not, and you really want a clock (I agree it would look better) you can likely get one with a modern quartz movement for not too much money. Every bit of work done on this car has been documented by part numbers and narratives as seen in the few pages shown. This is essentially a 68 year old car that was rebuilt to beyond new within the last 1250 miles. If you or anyone else is serious about this car I would encourage coming to see it in person or have someone evaluate it on your behalf.
