A 4A with the standard IRS setup would be indicated by \"CTC.\" Having the electrical wiring obscuring what could be the critical clue (CT or CTC) would be clever if the plate was original. This could be an actual live axle 4A or it could be a 4 that has had the side chrome added, etc., or (more likely) it could be a 4A with the IRS removed and replaced with the solid axle. Numerous pics should be added of the live axle install to differentiate a homegrown conversion from a factory version. This kind of thing is a personal preference, of course, and others may reasonably differ. I would be concerned with the rear tube shock conversion. Those things are never a good idea, and anchoring the shock on the body instead of the frame is an invitation to body cracks. If I had this car, I would replace them with original lever shock. It's not something that has to be done in a hurry, and should not be expensive or difficult, but I'd get rid of them when convenient. \r\n\r\nThe car is definitely a TR4A. In the US, the IRS was actually listed as an option; the solid axle was standard. The idea was to reduce the cost for the US market, so dealers could advertise the lower, non-IRS as a base price. The front right fender wheel opening shows signs of accident damage and the sidemarker light is not aligned with the stainless waist trim. Aftermarket luggage rack. No overdrive...and then there is the metallic paint. I would have taken the $15.9k...but it is not my car and I respect anyone that can walk away from a reasonable offer.
