I put MGB needles in mine (forget which code) on my 78 1500 and with a better exhaust,the twin SUs, electric radiator fans and Pertronix ignition I had 0-60 of just over 8 secs. Regarding AC, there is room, but you need to make a bracket for the compressor. I had pretty much designed a system but never got the bracket made. However, driving with the top up and rear window zipped out made it bearable in central TX 100+ heat and humidity. Just always have an extra shirt to change into. My car was watertight with the windows and top up or the hardtop on. I covered 112,000+ miles in the 9 years I had mine.
