I think BaT editors are used to adding that language to SuperBeetle listings. No photos of the suspension here, but I\u2019m guessing it has the standard Beetle torsion bar front suspension. Also, this was the era when VW cheapened the trim on regular Beetles which came from the factory with no \u201cchrome\u201d trim around the glass. This car had it added post factory, as well as opening rear side glass which was also not an option in 1974. I believe electric rear defroster was an option on the regular 1974 Beetles (it was standard on all Beetles from 1969 and remained standard on SuperBeetles) but this car lacks the wires in the rear glass. It also has the little spotlight under the dash in the center (visible in photos 57 and 58) which was added to meet US Federal Law requirement of illuminated heater controls. It pretty much failed at that mission, but notice that the heater lever ends were now bright yellow in the hope that the spotlight output would make the heater levers visible in the dark. With the Dasher in showrooms and the Rabbit on the way, VW evidently didn\u2019t want to design a new wiring harness that would bring power to the area between the front seats, that would have enabled the installation of lighted controls. This was a cheaper \u201csolution\u201d to meet the Federal requirement. What VW did was upgrade the standard 111 when they introduced the Super Beetle. This 111 compared to a Euro 111 is where you would see the bare bones model of the time and the Euro sedan came with a 1200, swing axle and had an option of 12-volt system, in fact the standard model of 1974 in Europe was the last model standard with a 6-volt system. The car you see here does have added windshield/back light aluminum window trim which didn't come with this car. The only concern I would have with this car would be the paint bubble (rust) below the left quarter glass vent area-this area was a point of concern to VW, it was caused by the noise insulation installed at the factory that we called in the dealer \"pillows\" which were triangular insulation bags stuffed up the \"C\" pilar. When the flow through vents were added in 1971, water getting in from the vent would saturate these pillows and rusting out part of the panel below the vent as you can see in picture 38.
