Very rare original Houndstooth vinyl top in fairly good condition...it is thought that only about 1500 Cougars originally were ordered with this top. The second lady owner bought this car when it was almost new and drove it until the early 1990's. She then parked it under cover in her basement until it was purchased by the current owner in 2011. He then went about addressing any and all mechanical needs. These include new brakes all around, new steering system, all new hoses and belts, shock absorbers, weatherstripping, fan shroud, battery cables, front end bushings, and an alignment. Add-ons include an Edelbrock Performer intake and Edelbrock Thunder-series 4bbl carburetor, American Racing Torque-Thrust type wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A rubber, electronic ignition, stereo system, new bumpers, and Magnaflow mufflers. The matching numbers motor has never been out of the car, however, it has been detailed in-place by the current owner. A few years ago someone hit the car in a parking lot and took off. This necessitated painting of the right door, front fender, and hood (the rest of the paint is original with several chips). The hood scoop and XR7 grille were added at that time. The rare Houndstooth vinyl top is in good condition with slight shrinkage at the corners. Fender damage to the left rear. The lady owner kept some damp towels in the right rear trunk which created the rust in the corner of the fender. No other significant rust in the car. Rare windshield wiper delay and Rim-Blow steering wheel.
