The alternator is unique to the W240 platform and difficult to source. Water cooled, three phase. Rebuild runs about $2,000 - $3,000 per phase, depending on what's wrong. The 62's have an even higher amperage version.\r\n\r\nI've been chasing the W240 for some time and I'd safely say from what I've seen in service records that it's not a matter of if but when each Maybach will require a rebuild or replacement.
