I am just confirming some questions asked by some watching this auction. The body and paint work is worth $25-30K and yes it is House of KOLOR Brandywine candy and European clear and show quality wetsanding and polishing and hand rubbing with glaze and wax to achieve this level of reflective finish. Horsepower is guestimating between 600-700 hspwr AND IT ROLLS SO EASILY WHICH ADDS TO HOW FAST THIS CAR SHALL PERFORM AT THE DRAGSTRIP... but personally did not dyno it. if it does not sell i will dyno it and put the HOT PAINT RESTORATIONS logo on it in gold leaf and RACE IT.... Since it is a Chris Alston chassis those of you who know of his work the chassis alone is worth between $10-15K. This IS a full race chassis not a cheap back half so bid goes on and i may lower reserve but you guys and gals know this is a beautiful car worth a bunch more than current bid... It's nowhere near as radical as this car, but is a serious bracket car with the same body style as this car, tubbed, caged, and BBC with carb. The similarity to this car is that Bob fired his new engine for the first time last Sunday and that was very similar to the engine run video here. The back doors of our respective garages face each other and while I was working on the race Mini I heard Bob's engine come to life. Shortly after that was the aroma of race gas. Not the same as alcohol, but still distinctive and nice. I put it in the category of, \"I love the smell of Nomex in the morning.\" Nothing gets the olfactory system going like race gas and a balaclava just after sunrise.. Anyway, after he did a few warm-up runs I took a video from my back door and all you see is Bob's open back door with this glorious noise. That included a few quick throttle \"raps\" and I emailed it to a few friends that are into big blocks. Too bad they don't make scratch and sniff videos. Then I went over the fence (not literally) and we BS'd for awhile. The funny thing is that it's his daughter's car. She has done western horse riding since she could walk and saved her money to buy a horse. A few years ago she decided she'd never have enough to own a horse, so she bought the Nova. She graduated with a marketing degree this year and last weekend was doing an internship at the Pikes Peak Hillclimb (practice weekend. Bob was putting the engine in for test and tune that's tomorrow night. It's fun seeing a family do this kind of thing together!\n\nThe Nova on auction here is very, very well done. About 20 years ago a friend built an alcohol injected BBC altered car from the ground up. He used all the certified parts and got a local (Denver) Hillborn tuner to set up the injection. (Tak, short for a Japanese name that I can't remember. He taught my friend the critical alcohol start-up ritual that @HotPaintRestorations mentioned.)
