A custom chip would be a good next step for this car, depending on the new owner's preferences. Simple answer to your question is that the current calibration works great for the way I drive the car. Ping only ever occurs if throttle position is sharply changed from cruising to higher load. By sharply changed I mean <0.5s or around there. Smoothly rolling into the throttle prevents it. This is how I'm accustomed to driving anyway but did notice the ping when exploring different conditions, so in the interest of full disclosure I added it to the auction description. \n\nWith higher octane / better quality fuel outside of CA it may not be an issue for the next owner. At full load acceleration it is quite happy. The transient condition I think is related to the fresh charge of air entering the combustion chambers and rapidly changing sensitivity to knock. If a bit of timing was pulled it should rectify this. Last year, the original power steering lines started to weep, so I had the opportunity to finish the SLS delete job when I removed the reservoir and lines. I personally made a tool to remove the caps over the SLS pistons at the front of the pump. I pulled the pistons and springs, then reinstalled the caps. Replaced all PS lines and removed remaining SLS lines. That is all the information that I've got at the moment. Spark plug threads were slightly wet with oil but photos make it look worse than it really was. I believe I have a set of those gaskets but have not yet replaced them. There was no oil pooled in the spark plug holes at the time of those photos.\n\nExhaust hanger: I'm not aware that anything is missing; I haven't changed anything with the exhaust hangers except for replacing the rubber donuts at the rear. Certainly possible that one is missing at center. Catalytic converters sure look like OE BMW to me given their appearance and part number stamps.\n\nWindshield wiper arm rubs on the underside of the hood; this is a common E34 problem. I can install new wiper blades if the buyer desires - haven't done that yet since it's not a priority here in southern CA.\n\nReported rear end accident on Carfax was a low speed parking lot type of incident, from the best I can deduce.
