I wasn't a fan of the oil-in-frame Triumphs until I got a 78 T140 in a partial trade last year. I've grown to love that bike. So much so that when I sold it (I originally took it on as a flip bike) I ended up buying it back. The guy I sold it to was having trouble kick starting it, so I told him, \"maybe it's not the right bike for you. If you want to bring it back, I'll refund your money.\" He brought it back...and I have no plans to sell it again. Still not sure why it wasn't starting for him. I can start the bike first kick 99 percent of the time. \r\n\r\nI noticed in the description it mentions the soft front brakes. I had a similar issue with mine. I rebuild the master cylinder, replaced the brake lines and brake pads and it was still very soft. Then I bought a new front brake lever (the Girling one with the master cylinder pushrod attached)....and that solved the problem. The pushrod that engages the piston was just a millimeter too short on the original one for some reason. I put the new lever on and the brakes were much better. Until today I have only run the bike around my property never really getting out of second gear. Yesterdays cold start video did show some smoke. Today a friend of mine who knows way more about these bike than I do stopped over and made a couple adjustments on the carburetors. I took the bike for about a 20 minute ride and then recorded another video which I just posted. FWIW the purchase price in August 1978 brand new out-the-door was $2495 and a Bell Star helmet was $100.
