But the Dodge was, well a Dodge. Of course, there was the direct Ghia connection which I think is apparent, but I swear I'm seeing some of Bertone's work, the BAT Alfas, particularly BAT9 with the abrupt fins. All of it looks pretty strange in 2025 but increasingly fascinating when looking back at the evolutions. A brave designer today could blow up convention with some historical study. It was increasingly common in the early 60s prior for cars to come equipped as the option was widespread. My own perspective has a personal twist as my Dad, a mid-20th century \"radical\" engineer, by definition well schooled in physics, insisted on seatbelts in all our vehicles. In the 50s as a kid I remember going with him to our nearby regional airport where he would buy seatbelts from an aviation supply store that meant our 1948 Packard and Desoto Suburban were fully equipped. My young friends would be stunned by his insistence everyone buckle up. To this day I can't be in a moving car comfortably without being strapped in. I feel like I'm falling otherwise.
