Same exact thing happened to my 97: the viscous coupling pack seized and caused damage to the spline that comes off of the VC coupling. The VC coupling on the gearbox is what throws power forward for the front wheels. The fix is to take the gearbox out, Disassemble, look for damage and rebuild. In my case, I replaced the reverse gear because it needed it anyway and replace the first gear syncro. I figured while I was there I would take the second gear syncro and switch it with the fifth since I run in first and second far more than fifth, and of course while you\u2019re in there you do new gas lines, valve adjustment, new hoses, pretty much everything else that you would while the engine is out. Given the VC pack and gear work was already done to this car, you aspiring buyers should be very confident. \r\n\r\nI am not affiliated with the seller and have no skin in the game. Just wanted to let you guys know why.
