It was a long wait but once they were legal to import I jumped on the first grade 4 car I could find. I was well chuffed when it arrived and I outline the experience in a couple videos on my YouTube channel that could be helpful to understanding the process. I corrected many of the cars\u2019 physical lacks and recently gave it a mechanical fettling. The paint offers deep reflections that allow the design to shine through. That Gandini design took the aging bi turbo shell and made it absolutely incredible. I love that rear fender. There have been many happy memories made. I will also add that at car gatherings this thing gets all the right attention. People just know it\u2019s special. It\u2019s as clean as QP4 as I have seen. I will say, having owned a dozen or so twin turbo Maserati over the year, they love a good Italian tune up and run pretty clean at 2500 rpm but are pretty funky at idle . Lol. Here in our state , we do have emissions testing in the north of the state. It\u2019s purely a money grab but I know generally speaking biturbo cars are somewhat hit and miss on easily passing. As in the video there were several areas where paint was chipping when it arrived and left the naked metal to surface oxidize. First off, I own 25 + cars, most are collector cars. All are stored in heated / cooled/ dry buildings. This car actually spent much of its time after paint work in my showroom. So yes, it could be stored and if left on a tender or battery disconnected should be fine to leave parked up for 6-7 months at a time. I didn\u2019t drive it for several months not on a tender and it fired right up first time. So yes, that should be fine. As mentioned it just had a service including oil change , filter , injector cleaning, new plugs, and the coolant was recently flushed. Brake fluid is also newer so in theory it could be driven great distances. I have a 64 mile round trip commute and it did this 2 days before the car was listed for auction no issues , no noises, no concerns. Your question about 2000 mile plus trip . As a classic and as a car I haven\u2019t driven that much since import I honestly couldn\u2019t say definitively. Here is why I say that. Recently on a family vacation to our northern house I had my family and two dogs in my very well serviced daily driven GL450 . I mean this thing is still on the recommended dealer service schedule. I did an inspection before the trip, everything looked good, I drive this as a commuter so no concern but I always check. We get packed up to head home and I hear a chirp from the upper pulley on the serpentine belt . Ok not a big deal, when I get back I\u2019ll change the belt and pulleys despite the fact that it has 30k on OEM parts currently on it. Next fuel stop it\u2019s louder but at this point we are only 200 miles from home. Cool. Not cool. 116 miles from my home the upper pulley literally melted itself to the belt and we were done. Luckily my son was following behind in his S8 we all jammed in and waited for a tow truck. I will add it was 16 degrees out too. Anyways. Long story but here is a relatively short trip (400 miles one way) in a car I would have BET YOU you could have driven to polar ice cap and it failed. This is a low mileage, classic Italian car that is well serviced but that I personally haven\u2019t driven that far so I would say, that would be totally up to you. Yes, it should make it just fine. But after my recent Mercedes Benz experience I\u2019m done making predictions. Hope that helps.
