Put about 25k miles on it. It was a powerful and fast bike for it's day but like all British bikes of the era it turned me into a road side mechanic. Fortunately the technology of the day wasn't much more complicated than a lawnmower so getting up and running after a breakdown was usually straight forward. And remember it is Lucas electric, Prince of Darkness, so be prepared to do a little splicing and connection work and carry extra light bulbs. A positive feature on this model is the magneto. When everything battery dependent fails the motor still runs. The carburetor is altitude sensitive so a range of jets in your tool kit is helpful. Also some hot plugs for around town and cold plugs when your rolling up miles at sustained high speed. Loved the \"slickshift\" feature. When I traveled almost any distance farther than walking distance from home I carried a saddlebag filled with the most likely bits to fail, chain links, electrical wire, a box of miscellaneous hardware, it's Whitworth not metric or SAE, oil, tire tools, patch kit, a bundle of spokes, weird stuff like a zenner diode, and stator. If you have read Jupiter's Travels by Ted Simon you get my drift.\r\nIt was my first big motorcycle and was followed by 6 more Triumphs. I wish I still had it.\r\nOne last thought, \"if there isn't oil under it there isn't any in it.\" Heed that!\r\nHopefully whoever wins this auction will RIDE this bike.
