I've seen remaps offered for these, but still stuck with an automatic choking some power transfer to the rear wheels. Fine for my needs til I do the manual swap.\r\nFun how, and I'm guilty too, every one of these that comes up with an automatic get people like us talking about manual trans swaps.\r\nIF you keep the fluid changed on the x-drive parts too, that will last a long time. I agree, it is a shame BMW has been telling owners these transmissions/diffs/etc. are filled with lifetime fluid, that is incorrect/inadvisable. The first pre LCI e91 we acquired at 95k miles (it was a similar age to this car at the time) and the ZF felt fine in Drive, in Sport mode it seemed to be shifting abruptly/hard, we weren\u2019t sure why but I was a bit concerned. Mechanic recommended we flush the diff before moving to trans so we did that (twice, with a short bit of driving in between) and that completely resolved the hard shifts, then some time later we serviced the trans with quality fluid and replaced the pan/filter. We sold that car (during the pandemic when we had several cars we weren\u2019t driving) at 120k-ish miles and the trans still felt great. I believe both autos are likely robust, but how they\u2019ve been treated also likely plays a role in their longevity, and I am aware that slipping is not unheard of as they near the mid 100s if they\u2019ve gone unserviced and been driven in extreme conditions. I read in a forum (which had technicians chiming in) that the technical guidance from the trans manufacturers calls for the ZF to be serviced at 60k and the GM at 100k, but that BMW has revised their lifetime fill claim to 100k miles (or that was always in the fine print) regardless of which trans your e9x has, however I also believe, based on my experiences, that going longer doesn\u2019t necessarily equal damage/trans issues. The replacement e91 with ZF I bought post pandemic was one owner (Cali car, no accidents, but had/has oil pan gasket leak and lower front bumper cover was not in ideal condition, I drove down to SLO from the Bay and picked it up for $7k) and it\u2019s at 95k now, and even though I know the trans nor diff has been serviced (he had only ever done basic maintenance on the car all at BMW dealership - SMH) there are no hard shifts in sport mode, so I suspect the way the car was driven can be a factor there. I have a full trans service kit ready for my car currently, as well as ample diff fluid, lower control arms & thrust arms (had to do both of those on last awd e91 and the front end felt great afterward), front sway bar bushings, oil pan gasket kit, oil filter housing gasket, valve cover gasket and I\u2019m just about to order struts and shocks so I can have all that done when I get back into town and start driving the car again (I\u2019ve already done coils & plugs, a K&N drop in and new wheels and tires - and then bought two more sets of 18\u201d M-Sport wheels and tires - one of which I\u2019ll gift to my wife\u2019s car, and acquired a new replacement BMW front bumper cover I need to have sprayed, with Glasurit, and installed). I may have gotten carried away with the wheels, but besides that I would recommend the winner of this auction have a plan to do all those service items in the near future, I suspect the transmission will be just fine but I also wouldn\u2019t gamble and put off the service for long. \r\n\r\nI wonder if the selling dealer can comment as to how the gaskets on this car are holding up and how the driveline feels, as he has had the car for several months and has been driving it. It is years newer than mine so certain things may not need immediate attention, but it\u2019s also a year older than my wife\u2019s and hers recently needed an oil pan gasket replacement at just over 60k miles. Otherwise I really like the spec of this car and think it looks quite clean, the headlights look great and that is increasingly rare as these post LCI cars age, I suspect this car was garaged a fair amount. It\u2019s also lived most of its life in the South and it seems almost all of its miles were driven there.
