As we went in, there was a line of newly salvaged cars, and in the middle was a triple white monster. I didn't know what it was, neither did my friend... Went to the back end and saw Mark III. I was in love!!\r\n\r\nSo sad... the yard was in MD, and I asked the owner, and old friend, if I could buy the car. It was still complete and untouched. He said no, MD wouldn't allow it back on the road and I was too young to know the rules for getting tagged in my state of Delaware. Alas, I watched it slowly get picked apart until it wasn't there one day. Sniff. Therefore, my dream car. I have chances over the years to buy one, but didn't have a garage. And now, I don't think it would fit my current garage! I need to measure!! And then rearrange a lot of stuff. \r\n\r\nThe coolest thing about the Mk III, the way the rear side windows work!! Do a YouTube search. It's worth the 1 minute video!!!\r\n\r\nI love the black on grey. Nice look. I would remove the vinyl top, the roof line looks so much better without the covering. 1968 was the only year they offered that option. First, the option cost Ford money to finish it properly and second, it wasn't selected that often. However, I would modify with paint. If anyone wanted to return it to stock, I would even keep the trim! :)\r\n\r\nI agree, the $18k paint estimate was harsh. Unless that was a full glass out/trim out/seal out repaint down to bare metal. If so, that's a deal. With modern base/clear paints, it would look stunning. I would add a touch of pearl to the paint for added depth. \r\n\r\nLovely. Just awesome. I wish I had the $$...
