For example, the brake booster costs almost $800 and the brake proportioning valve almost $900! You can easily spend multiples of your purchase price replacing and repairing parts. He is retired and his shop is shut down so service records not available. I own a 1985 635CSi with 5 speed. I do all of my own repairs and while OEM or dealer sourced parts are outrageously priced there are quality aftermarket parts available. I replaced the upper and lower control arms, brakes, tie rods, shocks and several other parts over my years of ownership at reasonable cost. Forum support at bigcoupe.com and mye28 is amazing in helping to solve repair and operating issues. These cars are mechanically very robust and not beyond the capabilities of DIY's with a good tool kit. Brake booster repair kits are available and I rebuilt mine for very low cost. My biggest concern with this model is rust in the body. I bought my car simply because the body was not rusted and the car was not driven on salted roads. I have never had to take my car to a dealer of independent garage for repair. Unlike most modern cars assembled with robots these cars were handbuilt so they can be disassembled in the same way. They are superb long distance touring cars and handle very nicely.
