I would really like to inspect the car as I only live a couple hours away, but I already have plans this busy holiday weekend (I understand the sellers do not control the timing of their auctions). \r\n\r\nI haven\u2019t seen any comments from the seller yet, but I would like to know:\r\n\r\nThe car appears to have been repainted \u2013 the \u201cT\u201d logo is missing from the hood and the door moldings are not straight. Confirm original color and any body damage (bondo) pre-respray. \r\n\r\nThe photographer was pretty tricky with lighting to minimize the dent in the right rear quarter panel. You can see it in photo 77. Are there other concealed dents? \r\n\r\nThere are not many undercarriage photos. I would want to know if there are any LHM leaks (e.g. piping, brakes, steering rack, hydraulic pump, accumulators, height correctors etc.) or other leaks. \r\n\r\nIt appears from photo 85 that the A/C compressor and engine under-tray are missing. Comprehensive undercarriage photos would be helpful.\r\n\r\nWhat is the condition of the turbocharger and intercooler? \r\n\r\nThe turbo/intake hose appears to be made of cardboard? This should be a black steel pipe around 2-3 inches in diameter. See photo 83. \r\n\r\nThe car looks to be mechanically well cared for, evidenced by newer intake manifold connector rubber, generally clean engine etc. but there is no mention of service records or current condition. How are the clutch and brakes? Does the car run and drive as it should? Any fluid or exhaust leaks? Etc.\r\n\r\nRear side of the drivers seat seems to be coming apart, are there any other interior issues? Headliner? Smells or dampness?\r\n\r\nSeems only 2 of the 4 center displays are working \u2013 these are challenging to find/fix. There are a lot of warning lights on, but the ignition might just be in accessory mode. Would be nice to see a photo or video of the dash while the car is running. \r\n\r\nDoes the height adjustment and DIRAVI (self-center steering) work as they should? Compressor in the engine compartment is missing, air conditioning condenser too, dryer bottle probably too, but photo is unclear. The standard hydraulic pump with V-belt drive is also installed. The spare wheel would have to be taken out to see if there is an expansion valve. Then it would be clear whether air conditioning was installed earlier or not. But that would probably only have been an less efficient after market system, what was available in former days. The factory system would have installed the hydraulic pump with a shaft. I don't have to understand whoever voluntarily changes it to the standard pump. In any case, a functioning climate is a long way away - and costs. The wrong radiator is also installed, namely the one from the 2.4 GTI or 2.5 GTI Series 1 and naturally aspirated diesel. But enough with no air conditioning and no 200kmh speed at 35 degrees plus outside. Sorry, to spoil the party a bit. I have 30 years experience with this cars. Overall the price could be nonetheless ok, Black on black CX Turbos GTIs are hard to find. By the way, I also developed and sell the 16 inch alloywheels in the Turbodesign.
