Lets hope they were done professionally. If not be looking at copious amounts of filler. Front and rear quarter panel sheet metal changed after 1971 one to accommodate the change to big federalized bumpers. Not a huge fan of the modifications and will take a bit of work to return to stock if desired. The lower quarter panel areas on this car are smooth. Stock 72-74 cars would have indentations at each corner. Bullet turn signals and no fuel door are found on 60-67 Ghia's. 70-74 Ghias have front wraparound signals. Almost easier to replace the clip than to re-work IMO. Fuel tank is a 61-67 item. Nose badge eliminated and the flat spot where the badge once sat has been filled in. Picture 17 shows an unconnected wire harness coupler hanging in space. What's that for? Interior I believe is a early 90's VW Scat Procar offering. This KG is not at all to my mind an inferior offering but the bidders better make sure they are going in with eyes wide open and understand this one is pretty heavily modified. I have one with a 1776 cc \u201cbuilt\u201d engine, and it goes quite nicely\u2014have a 1990 Miata as well, and my Ghia will out-accelerate and out-handle (yes!) that Miata\u2014but it has obviously had suspension modifications as well...\nI call it my \u201cpoor-man\u2019s Porsche\u201d, except it has not made me a \u201cpoor man\u201d like servicing a Porsche would...I have made this comment on BaT, and it will probably inflame Porsche fans (though I am also one), if you forget the obviously value of a 356, if I parked next to one at \u201ccars and coffee\u201d, my Ghia will get the ooh\u2019s and aah\u2019s, and on the street, it is no contest\u2014but obviously you do not modify a 356 that is in original condition and worth $100-$300K\u2014I get that. My point is, the Ghia\u2019s are seldom seen (in Portland, OR), they are cool, they can perform if modified correctly, and I don\u2019t have a panic-attack worrying about it as I drive around town or if I park at Starbucks or Safeway...but I still baby it, and it is still a collector car.
