I'm a long-term owner (since 1980) and do all wrenching myself. Parts and expertise are easy to source when needed. These bikes have 3 wonderful attributes: 1) Speed - tons and tons of torque - who needs a 5-speed (other than the much slower Bonneville) 2) Handling - bike tucks and goes where you point it and 3) Sound - exhaust note is a brilliant growling orchestra - I have a Dunstall exhaust which speaks louder than the pea shooters on this bike (which are correct and beautiful IMO). This bike is complete and in order (other than a missing breather hose from the oil tank) and looks like it's ready to rock. I put a single 34 on my MK III in the late 70s, because of a lack of open gas stations on Sunday Night in Virginia and surrounding states. I rode it out to my brother's place and his with an HPI motor and dual 34 Mikunis spanked it pretty hard. IThe carbs and manifolds are cheap. The HPI engine has more compression, and more porting, and its still faster than the other one. I still have those two bikes. AJS and Matchless were also one up three down. Burman boxes were also the same pattern. Beezers and Trumpets were opposite. On Mk 1 Venoms, with the pedal reversed, a special bit in the G/B would keep the pattern the same. They later converted to monkey motion on the Mk2s which I didn't like as much. I had a Mk2A like this one, and rode it a lot for the 12 years I had it.
