I've gotten some questions about how this car is street legal and just wanted to clarify that there is no funny business here. The car was originally imported into the US in 1997. At that time the only way to get a euro vin 993 into the US was to designate it as off road use only (race tracks). Now that these cars are 25 years old they qualify for the 25 year exemption from the DOT and EPA. Unfortunately you can't just write them a letter to reclassify your car, you actually have to re-import it and resubmit paper work. So that's what I did a few months ago, I exported the car to Canada, then re-imported it under the 25 year exemption and registered and titled the car in Florida. No tricks, just followed the rules. All the lighting is functional, headlights, turn signals, backup lights etc. So as long as your state doesn't have emissions requirements for a car this old, you're good to go (CA being the obvious exception). This car is loud, stiffly sprung, there's no power steering, no climate control, etc, but it is a hoot to drive on the street or the track.
