The funny thing is it passed the sniffer test no problem. It was actually the visual that became the issue for CA. \r\n\r\nI do recommend the Viper alarm system, the remote start is a great feature to have. I've had zero problems with the alarm since it was installed. Also the alarm waits to crank for the glow plugs to warm up. Really nice to have a little extra security and works up to a mile when not obstructed. For those worried about CARB:\r\n\r\nYou can disconnect the Hydra programmer and tuck the cable out of sight and everything will still function.\r\n\r\nThe smog test protocol for these vehicles is a visual (they rarely climb up into the engine bay to check), OBDII/check engine light scan, followed by 3 mock acceleration runs on the rollers. I have property in AK so ended up going that route, plus registration renewal is every 2 years so hard to beat lol. \r\n\r\nI went with 4.10 gears as suggested by my local 4x4 shop and did some research online to verify what they were saying. Basically what my understanding is 4.30 can be overkill unless you plan on doing a ton of heavy towing.
