The next model used Mini headlight units, and had a \"straight ahead\" look. \r\n\r\nOn the Plus side, this one has a 6 speed manual. \r\n\r\nI spent time with a couple of Aero 8s (the series 2 and 3 Aeromax), and enjoyed every minute. They are quite modern in their operation, if not the seating position, and they exhibit that hand built look and feel. \r\nEven with the BMW power and the modern, very stiff alloy monocoque and a modern, rocker arm suspension, the Aero 8 still has a Morgan feel to it. 'Nice ride, lots of mechanical grip and lots of mechanical presence. Plenty of power, and very light. Also lots of attention. Not a car for someone in witness protection. \r\n\r\nI read the displayed chassis record, and the car was delivered with a \"Black mohair hood\", which means convertible top. It was never a hard top (coupe body was not listed anywhere in the build record, and it was listed as an Aero 8, and not an Aeromax coupe). I believe that the coupe models came later, along with the straight ahead headlights. \r\n\r\nAs for \"termite inspections\", this Morgan also has spruce in the bodywork support above the monocoque, and it is also part of its crash protection. It's doubtful that his car, or any Morgan, would suffer termites, though. \r\n\r\nAs for series. I think that it is a 2, because, again, the VW headlights. \r\n\r\nI also like the color. In due course after returning home I purchased both models, which became stablemates to my Plus 4. I was the 2nd owner of this car and purchased it with 3,000 miles on it. I drove it for over 4 years and put on a little over 4,000 miles. I never had even the smallest problem. I drove this car as the \"pace car\" at the 2009 Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival on both the new track and the old circuit. The car is a joy to drive; the power to weight ratio is formidable, and the transmission shifts like butter. The road handling ability is awesome. The photos do not do justice to the car from either an angle perspective of the body lines, nor as representatively showing the true colour. The car changes colour as you walk around it and how the angle of the sunlight falls upon the body. It truly is much more remarkable than what you see in the BaT photos! Whether one likes the design of the headlights and nose will always form two camps. Nonetheless, it will remain an iconic design, and a daunting sports car. Get ready for attention, anywhere you park this car there will be people coming up to talk with you. From what I can discern of the photos, the car looks to have been very well maintained.
