One of the strongest V-8's ever made. The block is hugely over built. The suspension is upgraded. The styling is slightly ahead of it's time. One year later, Studebaker was basically done. I do not know the numbers, but Daytona's in any form are rare. Wagonarie's in particular. There were some 4 speeds too. This Daytona is in incredible shape. Normally, these rust badly. This one is amazingly clean. The video shows it can keep up in modern traffic with no problem. This is an opportunity to own an extremely rare, vintage, high performance Station Wagon. But below is my interpretation of what I was told:\r\n- Since it was an American car, which the documents I just put in the photo gallery prove, yes it can be imported back into the US duty free.\r\n- You will also need a \"Shipper's Declaration\" (which is up to me to provide) declaring that no significant changes have been made to the car (which there have not) that would change the country of origin.\r\nThey indicated to me that this type of transaction would have to be handled by a broker and that the buyer should know that there will be a charge for this service which usually runs in the neighborhood of $400. Again don't hold me to this quote... it was only a ball park figure. If you zoom into the body photos you should see some blemishes. Nothing major, but they are there. Keep in mind that as stated and shown in the pictures, there are two rust free rear doors that are pre-painted to match the car ready to be installed. Note that as has been explained the clear coat on the doors has some imprints of the cloth they were wrapped in during shipping from the cars last location. No guarantee, but I am pretty sure that they will wet sand out. Again they are quite minor but they are there.\r\n- one place that there is some rust that I did not think to show (because it is barely visible), is in the narrow body panel just below and behind the tailgate that fills in the space between the tailgate and the bumper.\r\n- there is some rust in the body support below the A-pillar on the passenger side. A small section of the floor here has some small perforation and will need to be replaced when this is fixed. Body supports are available for the Larks from Classic Enterprises. (again refer to the photo gallery for pictures trying to show this area)\r\n- In the spare tire well there is some surface rust but there are no perforations in the metal.\r\n- In the area right where the battery sits there are some perforations that should be cut out and replaced. I have imported two collector cars from BC (including a Studebaker). I've not used a broker. ICBC is the licensing department in BC. They were always very helpful in preparing the proper paperwork for the sale and for importing the car into the US. I trailered both cars into the US. You stop at the border (US side). A US customs agent checks the VIN against the paperwork and you're done. \n\nThere are no auto titles in BC. Just a registration.\n\nThere were no fees to buy the car in BC and no fees at the boarder to import the car. \nThe only fees were normal licensing and sales tax charges when I licensed the cars in Washington State.\n\nBTW, I believe that for a collector car it doesn't matter if it was originally US made or not. The Studebaker I imported was made in Hamilton, Ontario. The other car was made in Great Britain.
