Production costs were cut by standardizing the cars, and paint/trim options were limited.. Leather was ditched (replaced with ICI 'Ambla') as were the picnic tables from front seats..synthetic headliner and carpets, (replaced wool) and plain veneer (replaced burr walnut) on the wood.. although badged '340', heritage certificates' will state they are 3.4 Mk2 ..they retained all the obsolete parts from the previous model year ..the crap DG auto box (home and other markets got the improved BW35 post '66) kept with the old style steering box ..known to develop leaks( whilst other markets had the marles steering box post '66..as did the 420) and vin sequence is same as for the 3.4 mk2.. 'actual' 340 was released for sale in Sept '67..
