Freewheel works well, as designed, the transmission was rebuilt by the prior owner, and up and downshifts nicely, synchronizers all seem quite good so no transmission issues. Clutch kit was replaced by prior owner. There is a little clutch chatter when engaging clutch, which is minimized by engaging the clutch at a bit higher RPMs (see driving video, this is minor, the car drives quite well)\r\n\r\nI believe the car was always this color, I see no evidence of any other color on any part of the car. Tires are from 2014, and while 9 years old, they ride well. Service records are minimal but I am happy to give the winning bidder the contact info from the prior owner who may have more history available. I am not one of those fans, as I much prefer engine braking on deceleration, so I am not a freewheeler per se, but I am sure there are folks out there who have great stories of rolling down long hills at idle speed in freewheel mode. The interior breathes really nicely, I think those little plastic fins in the corner of the front roll-down windows also help the car vent well without excessive wind noise. When I drove the car all day to Lime Rock and back, it was about 85 degrees out, and still reasonably pleasant temp-wise in the car, the air flow was nice and it was not too noisy. \n\nI have called the prior owner to get more info about the prior clutch work he did and I hope to hear from him soon. The transmission was rebuilt when he changed the clutch, and the clutch parts were renewed. There is some chatter on clutch take-up, which is minor. Could be that they didn't adequately clean/face the flywheel when it was apart. It is a minor annoyance, I wouldn't bother trying to fix it, but the new owner needs to know about it. All of these old cars have something, and this little bit of chatter didn't diminish my enjoyment of the car one iota. You should be able to see that it is minor in the driving video... if it's hard for viewers to detect in the video, that's because it is a very minor issue. You only notice it off the line and only if you engage the clutch at idle rpm. If you add some RPMs when easing out the clutch, the chatter is minimized. I drove the car about 250 miles this summer without concern.\n\nRegarding the body, the prior owner told me the car was quite solid with a surface rusted patina before he had it repainted. I don't think there was much if any bodywork done before repaint, he told me the body shop removed all the little dings and then properly prepped and painted the car. It's not a Porsche 911-grade paint job, but it's a completely Saab 95-appropriate paint job, a little heavy but looks quite nice for this application. I have a feeling these cars were not known for their paint jobs even when new.\n\nI bought this car because I had never seen a Saab 95 that looked this good. I previously passed on a number of them that seemed quite beat-up and rusty, but not so here. The car rides and corners quite nicely, without any clunks or ride quality issues. \r\n\r\nI own a classic British Sportscar shop that specializes in Spridgets so we are very familiar with lever shocks\u2026 if Saab rear lever shocks are one day needed for the new owner, we can get them quite easily. While the front shocks look like they have been in place for a while, they also work fine.\r\n\r\nWhile there is some cracking visible on some of the rubber bushings under the car, there is nothing evident from driving the car that would motivate repair or restoration of the suspension. We pull apart Sprite front ends every week and change all the bushings, but just because there is some cracking on the flange of the rubber bushing does not mean that the bushing needs replacement. Sure, we all love to see nice new rubber everywhere, but new rubber today doesn\u2019t seem to last like it used to, and I sometimes wonder if changing to nice new bushings wouldn\u2019t be worse than leaving these in place. I have been driving it just fine without it. The pedal effort is not excessive and the brakes work great. If you wanted to restore the booster, it is easy to remove and then send out to a rebuilder who will restore it, about $475 and three weeks to bore and brass sleeve the servo and then rebuild with new internals. We can help the new owner with that if so desired but I didn't feel any need to do that restoration since the brakes work well without it. A friend uses his as a camper and travels all over Europe living out of his while traveling.\r\nThere is a lot discussion here about the freewheeling mode. On a V4 this is a novelty and generally not recommended for regular use.The freewheel function was created for the two-stroke motors. Two-stroke motors get their lubrication from the fuel mix. Thus, if you are coasting downhill with the throttle closed and rpm rising, the engine is not getting any lubrication.The transmissions were not redesigned when the V4 engines came out. There are some advantages of freewheeling in deep snow/ice so that engine braking does not cause a loss of traction, great in Nordic conditions.\r\nI wish I had room. And while the tires have aged-out, they still ride just fine and there is no cracking visible. Like @gonavy78, I have a Volvo with a non-working booster, and haven't found it to be worth the trouble to repair on my Volvo, so this Saab booster just wasn't high up on my list, but if it matters to you, we can absolutely make it right for you! The rebuilder will take about 3 weeks to restore and sleeve the booster, and then the installation would happen quite quickly, so allow about three weeks total time. Happy to do that and store the car here for free for the new owner while we wait for the booster to come back, if the new owner wants this service.
