I will be responding to queries daily and hope to provide an honest description of what you will be bidding on. @SM_MINIS The driving video you are referring to is titled \u2018built to last\u2019 for a reason. I am driving much too quickly for the road surface and I believe the banging noise is the suspension simply reaching the limit of its travel. The underbody video shows that the chassis is pretty solid and there is nothing loose. I would not repeat that performance but it was useful for the auction, I think. The \u2018manual fuel pump' is a misnomer as it is an inline manually activated pump that I installed last year. About one year into my ownership I began having difficulty starting the vehicle after it had been sitting awhile. The starter would crank but there was no fuel in the carburetor or the fuel line. By the time the fuel pump had primed the carburetor the 6v battery had given up the ghost. A battery tender helped a little. Last year I tried to overcome the problem with the inline fuel pump (the car has a lever under the fuel pump for hand priming, but it was not very effective). I actually had some success with a couple of pumps before starting the car. Flooding was a problem though and the engine was not running that well. At this point my mechanic discovered a vacuum leak where the carburetor met the manifold. After the engine shut down the fuel would escape the carburetor and fuel line. He was able to service the carburetor and repair the leak. Photos 110, 115, 116 and the walk around video at 1:24 show the before, during and after.This has resolved the problem and I believe the inline hand pump is now superfluous. The engine runs well now. Finally, yes they could be quick. At 1300 lbs the 1063 upgrade was active in the 50s racing scene. More on that later. Non-functioning items include the odometer, fuel gauge, windshield wipers, and the left interior light. Everything else works, including both blinkers, headlights, independent taillights & brake lights At 21hp this is no race car. However, Renault did build an upgraded version of this car, the 1063R, with hp up to 43 and several other upgrades. The top speed increased to 120km/hr then 140km/hr. 30 copies were made, then 50 more, all painted in Blue Lazuli, the color of this specimen. These cars raced in many of the well-known events of the time including The Tour de France Automobile, the Coupe des Alpes, the Mille Miglia, the Rallye of Monte Carlo, 1000km Nurburging and the 24 hours of Le Mans. For Le Mans, they moved the fuel tank into the back seat and increased capacity to 68 liters allowing 377 km between fill-ups. The 1951 race started 5 vehicles all of which reached 22 hours, one lost to an accident at hour 24 and one to a fire at hour 22. The remaining three finished 22nd, 25th, and 27th overall and first in their class. The 34 cars behind them mostly did not finish. The car is a reliable driver and a great conversation starter wherever you go, with equal interest from men and women and especially the French. It generates more interest than a Beetle which are pretty common around here. This is the only 4CV I have ever seen in Santa Cruz county and it will be a zebra in your town, as well. The car is nearly complete, but if you like to tinker the windshield wipers, the odometer, the fuel gauge and the left side interior light are waiting for you. If you like to talk to your friends and strangers about your wonderful car you can discuss the history during WW2, the recovery of the French during the 40s and 50s, its racing legacy, the beautiful metal work in the air intake by the rear wheels, the 21hp 747cc motor that is still going strong after 64 years, the suicide doors, the yellow paint the Germans left from Rommel\u2019s tanks, and the access it will give you to historical rallies. If you want to start a classic collection, it is an inexpensive entre. If you already have a stable of nice cars it will be cute little car to complete your collection I am including touch up paint in both blue and yellow, a six volt charger and a back up 6 volt battery core.
