This was with the V12 that needed a tuneup. \r\n The 2:88 gears are actually not bad. I had planned to change them, however the car is still plenty quick off the line and makes a nice cruiser on the highway. I\u2019ll post a video of the tach at certain speeds. Runs quite low RPMs even at 65-70. Around town fuel economy is around 20. A friend of mine asked me if we could drive it once when we were standing in his driveway. I say \"sure thing\" and toss him the keys. I think he backed out of the driveway and went from zero to 100 in about 10 seconds on a side street in north Seattle. I have to admit I was a little suprised but have to add that the exhuast note was some sweet music. I sold it to my mechanic for a thousand bucks. The '93 coupe and '96 drop top in my garage now are better cars, but I'll always have a yearning for that old \"lump\". This one looks really good (you might have to wear shades) and I expect the new owner will have a great ownership experience. Congrats to the intelligent builder and best to both him and the buyer. From my experience, the XJS found with a bad engine was usually due to poor maintenance which seems to follow through to the paint, interior and general condition of the car hence my decision to convert this particular XJS. I'll admit several days worth of \"automotive guilt\" after pulling the vital organs of this car. Thankfully, several months later the V12 was tuned up and transplanted in a sick XJS. You'll be happy to know both patients survived the transplant and are both alive and very healthy. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on curb weight of the XJS with the V12, but I believe it was around 4200 lbs. The all aluminum LS engines weigh several hundred pounds less than the V12 so perhaps 3900 lbs as it sits. Before the replacement springs were installed the front end had a ridiculous amount of fender gap. When the LS engine and 4L60E transmission were put in place for the first time the car only lowered about an inch-no joke! As the pictures show, the engine is placed a fair distance back from where the larger 12 cylinder lived. The balance was great before, however now it's amazing in corners. 1991 was the last year before the face-lift models and 1996 was the last year for the XJS. A modern LS is smoother, faster, lighter and far more efficient than Jag's V12.
