I have owned 40 or so Mercedes fin cars, was an MB mechanic in the early 70s, and have been under more of these cars than I could count. There isn't a fastener on a fin car that I have not touched. There are several things that I look for to judge whether a car is truly low mileage. The odo numbers do not line up after it passes 99,999, and these are perfect. This car has optional and hard to find padded floor mats that are perfect, inner rocker covers and door sills - perfect; dash pad - perfect; original carpets - perfect; all door gaskets, trunk seal, windshield gaskets, headlight rubber conduits, C pillar drains above rear tires, door caps, etc., etc., all perfect. Under the hood the cad plating looks great, the firewall pad is perfect, everything in place and correct with the exception of a few hose clamps. The only thing I find a little strange is the shifter boot. I've never seen one like it, but it could be right and was introduced in the transition year of 1968. Underneath looks amazing and even shows evidence of cosmoline that was applied for overseas shipping. The drain holes in the front frame horns are clear and there are signs of a little rusty water under them showing that they are doing their job. The frame horns are often rusty here. I could keep going, but you get the point. I am curious about the damage to the back bottom corner of the driver's door. It looks like someone may have backed into something. Otherwise, this car is ready for someone to clean and tinker, and love it. By the way, it's nice to know that Maxxis is not the only tire company producing 13\" Radials.
