Took it back to my Dad's station and dropped it off, gave it a bath, rolled it out front and went to lunch. Came back from lunch and the car was gone. Dad sold it in that 45 minutes for $1,500. Use it like that while you are sourcing an old Jag motor, then you can decide if you want to replace that Toyota motor with something less reliable, fussier, with less power, and leaks a lot . Maybe just put the jag motor on a stand and use it as a selling point later on after you are done enjoying the car. Today, it is a much simpler process with less skill required. Even inexpensive welders have fine heat control and wire feeders are magic. A couple of hours instruction by a buddy will get you started. The rest is really practice. A project like this is a great place to learn. I sold a worse condition XK 120 DHC project to a guy in England 15 years ago for 12K and he flew to California, packed everything in bubble wrap loaded it in a container and shipped it home. These are a world class classic worthy of the time and effort of a hobbyist to restore.
