I asked him about, and was perfectly willing to pay for the IMS replacement. The engine oil becomes relevant if the bearing seal ruptures. But those show up more on the typical used car lot 996, with cars that have been in multiple states perhaps from dealer auction, and they perhaps are usually not loved as much as a single owner car. I have driven in a 2000 911 that felt more like a well worn 1970 911, with some suspension noise over bumps. Alignment and wheel balancing is absent in a lot of these cars. My cab has some top attachment noise.
