Orange car was in the process of being converted to a 4 speed when I got it, all the parts were there and most of the work was done, all I had to do was install the tranny , reconnect the drive line and do any final adjustments. Also take into account, this was at least 30 years ago, and these cars were everywhere and most of them needed work. The way I see it I probably spent less than $1500 on all three cars. I owned and restored mid-sixties small block A body Mopars for 40 years before moving onto German 1980's cars. I learned auto mechanics on these cars and they are very easy to service and repair. I've owned Formula S and Dart 273 / 4 speed cars and they are good cars. The 273 is perfect for this car and there are many upgrades available to enhance performance of this nice little engine. One interesting note to the winning bidder. If you ever need to replace the clutch & pressure plate, the heavy duty 6 cylinder pressure plate is much more sturdy than anything listed in the parts books for the v8.\n\nThere are many other upgrades that can be made to these fun little cars. A few of the '66 to '72 A body cars had Kelsey Hayes disc brake set ups that can easily be swapped up front, if you can find them. This car was probably hastily put together to stay ahead of the Mustang introduced 2 weeks after the barracuda launched. The doors do not sag a fraction of an inch when open and the trunk is open/close very easy. The trunk has a neat arm of some sort that lock on the right side when raised to keep it from lopping off some fingers if it falls. I'd even suggest retractable belts. I put some 3-point retractable belts in my truck and is was fairly easy. Although I'm guessing the 3-point belts won't really work in this car with the doors and windows the way they are. But some classic looking black lap belts with chrome airplane type latches would be nice.\r\n\r\nHere is where I got mine from and they work great. Only minor \"complaint\" is that the catch mechanism is very quick, so can't pull it fast or lean forward too fast without it catching. But also, hopefully that means it will actually work quickly as expected if ever needed. It was a great driving car, superior to the Mustang or first gen Camaro IMHO. Its one of those cars I think about often and wished I had kept. Its styling will grow on you. I would slip my Heart tape in on the test drive and crank up Barracuda... Guy made a fair offer and when I met him a few days later to close the deal it almost fell through over the Heart tape.
