The floor never got warm, it just recommended to be done. Under this part of the floor is the original MB heat shield. The heat shield is often lost along the way. Point in case - I bought a Pagoda here a few months ago. Although I previously owned 3, I do not know enough to accurately assess a listing from pictures. Both the negative and positive comments gave me confidence to pull the trigger. Without this inside intelligence from the BAT community, I would not have have paid even 70% of the selling price. Buying any Mercedes without a detailed assessment could be a disaster. It is surprising how many hidden issues can pop-up, and most come with a \u201cgulp\u201d. Although mine was in great condition, it took $35k to fully sort the mechanical issues using a W113 expert. This does not include any paint or interior work and the car was rust free. Bottom line: there will be occasional non-constructive comments, but who cares? It comes with the territory. It\u2019s so worth the value provided and easy to filter out any nonsense. I hope it never changes. Many times when Apple updates devices, they get worse IMHO. There is an apex where a product is just right. We are there with BAT. I had my \u201868 280SL treated to a bare metal repaint many years ago, regretfully by a shop that was not a specialist in the breed. It had its original notches. As many well know, these were hand-formed in the leading between the fender and the nose panel joint at that location. Since the headlight bezel has a \u201cstep\u201d at that location on both sides, and since the outside of the bezel has the body crease matching up to it, this attention to small details by Mercedes is just one of many that endeared me to their craftsmanship.\r\n\r\nIt came back without the notches. The shop owner said he was not aware they were there, and sent the body off to the bead blasted which removed them from the leading. He was apologetic and put them back in, almost perfectly replicating the look of the outside fender crease, which is not really the way these notches looked.\r\n\r\nIt was one of several things that ultimately led me to sell the car. I may look for another one someday, and I know darn well what I will look for.\r\n\r\nSimple message to anyone out there that wants to get into restoration of these cars. Should they have original notches, place duct tape over them before doing any kind of bead blasting.
