If the bike seems to roll well and the rear brake works properly, then the new owner should remove the rear axle, measures the diameters and \"steps\" where axle thickness changes (if any), and just search eBay for one about 3/4\" longer. Our store clears old motorcycle shop inventories, and we usually sell them super cheap, like this group of four with an asking price of $6.99 for all. These are probably not correct for this bike, but there are a lot of cheap used axles out there. Don't let this one item discourage you from buying this bike. Anyone can find a late 60s Triumph but these early bathtub models are highly unusual, a style that was not universally appreciated when new but now so art deco this is Uber cool. I have a 48 speedtwin & always wanted a unit bathtub to match, but while I came up with a basket case after 10 years, still have not found a Affordable bathtub for it. The later 500s had more power but these are a totally different machine than the 650s, short rod and square dimensions, all about the torque! That's why these are such a pleasure to ride.
