Yes according to research I found on Alpina Registry this car left the factory as an automatic. My mechanic, Dave Bogert, while he did not remove the trans to inspect the work, stated that based on his inspection and operation of the vehicle the swap was done some time ago and correct Getrag parts were used. He stated that the shifter seems a bit \"Sloppy\" but no more than on other e30's he has driven over the past decade or two. He recommended a bushing refresh the next time I had the car in for service or whenever convenient. I ordered the parts from ECS Tuning, including a Z3 short shifter, but have not had the opportunity to get the car back to him. Sorry also about my lag in responding, I've been travelling for work in the UK all week. Home tomorrow at last. Thanks all for your great comments and questions. I've also done some more research on what the Alpina factory did to the motor and have supplied that info to BaT first so they can perhaps add it to the listing.
