I have driven a tweaked E30 M3. The big difference is weight and torque. The M30 car (probably 20 less HP than this one) is a torque monster. No downshifting on the highway required. The car simply moves quickly, without a ton of fuss. On the track, you feel that big six shoved up against the radiator.\n\nThe M3 will be all revs to make it fast. It's lighter. It's ultimately the faster car. But you'll need to work and rev it (like an S2000 vs. Corvette). This car seems like it was priced in line with the amount of work it would require to bring it back closer to its original spec. It has quite a few issues that will not likely be cheap to correct. The engine management issue is at the forefront as the car is no longer running its correct L jetronic and Alpina AFT ignition box. The car is also missing its Alpina radiator, exhaust system, VIN tag under the hood, spare wheel, and the shift knob is a knock off. The carpet doesn't look like factory carpet, and the headliner is worn. The car is also missing the correct airbox. Most of these are not terribly hard to address aside from the radiator and exhaust which may prove more difficult. Also, from the photos I wouldn't be surprised if the car had some type of front end damage in the past. I do think the buyer likely got a bit of a deal, but this car is not in a similar condition to the other E30 B6 2.8 sold on BaT.
