One of these popped up at our local dealership and we went for a test drive. We were immediately enchanted by the Alpina formula. The car just felt so special. \r\n\r\nOver our 4.25 years of ownership, the car was driven sparingly, always parked in our garage and hand washed. My father took it to work roughly one day a week and we would use it on weekend drives and road trips, the most memorable being down to Gatlinburg for the 2017 solar eclipse. \r\n\r\nHe\u2019s decided to sell the car because he doesn\u2019t get to drive it nearly as much since the pandemic started. Also, as he\u2019s getting older, he wants a car with more modern & active safety features, especially some sort of Level 2 autonomous system, which was sadly not optioned on this car. \r\n\r\nI\u2019ve been fortunate enough to put several miles on this car myself and the best way to describe it is as a luxury spaceship for the road. The speed builds relentlessly, the car shrinks around you and is still such a joy to put through its paces - on a backroad or just when dropping a couple gears to do some passing. Alpina\u2019s suspension tuning is magic, the car is always refined and is as happy to saunter around as it is to chase down the horizon. This Alpina has always been well-received at BMW CCA tours and cars and coffees; she receives compliments by those who know, wherever she goes. \r\n\r\nThe biggest concern most have with these later model BMWs is unexpected maintenance. To that end, we\u2019ve purchased an extended warranty through CarChex that is fully transferable to the buyer. As of the end of this month, there is still a balance left of ~$4200 on that warranty that we have opted to pay off at an interest-free rate of ~$280 per month. The buyer is free to take over this monthly payment, pay the balance in full, or decline extending coverage. The warranty is valid until 81,374 miles or 8/24/2023!\r\n\r\nAs noted by @teamgomez, early last year the car developed a slight whine off-throttle between 60 and 70 mph. The driveline was inspected by BMW Fairfax and the front differential was replaced. The whine persisted. We took it to Excluservice, the premier independent BMW shop in Maryland. They found BMW Fairfax has installed the incorrect guibo\u2019s and replaced those. I imagine Alpina used beefier guibos to deal with the added torque over the base 750ix. The whine has unfortunately still persisted. I will upload a lengthy driving video in the next day or two in which you can hear it. The sound itself is hardly noticeable at speed, and the only reason we wanted to track it down was to see if something was amiss. Fortunately, the driving dynamics are not affected in the slightest, and if a shop can find the cause, it should 100% be covered by the warranty. \r\n\r\nFurther, I should add that the only one of the 8 ignition coils has been replaced (again, fully covered under warranty). These are a known wear item on the N63TU and would be the only thing I would have done preventatively at this point to ensure thousands of trouble free miles to come. \r\n\r\nRE: @kellymelissa143 : I believe all 4 tires were replaced in early 2018. The date codes for the front tires are: 3817 (FL, img #150) & 4017 (FR, img #151)\r\n\r\nRE: @teamgomez : Apologies, I didn\u2019t have the time to take another set of pictures in more direct light. My 1st and last Bimmer was a 2013 750i SWB (MSport pkg). Looked great, drove great however, I\u2019ve never owned a car that guzzled oil. There was no leak. It was not burning black smoke out the back. I couldn\u2019t figure out what the heck was going on. Every other week or so a warning kept coming up on the dash telling me to add a quart of oil. That\u2019s bananas!! Oh, and the engine DOES NOT HAVE A DIPSTICK to check the oil level!! It measures it electronically which takes like an insane 5 min to perform this simple task. It\u2019s a pain. Well, I became fast friends with the tech at the dealership and he said I wasn\u2019t going crazy. He educated me on the CCP and what the heck was going on.
