The trunk lid is incorrect for a 67' which should have a metal skin on the inside. I only mention this because I kind of need one with the pressboard liner for a 65' S I am currently doing up which is fitted with the later type. Also, this car should have amber upper rear lenses(still with the small lights) for 67' only in North America, earlier cars were red. Both easy fixes and don't detract from the car IMO. It looks like the bidding is off to a good start and the seller deserves to do well with this well preserved car. I asked him while touring the line, how did you know when exactly a production change was going to take place? He took us behind the line and said \"see those shopping carts full of parts? When that one is empty we push the next one up and that's when the production change took place.\" \"Every once in a while we found a few bits left over and we'd use them up where we needed them.\" So in regards to your reply there was no set date/chassis/model when changes occurred. They were guessing and nobody knows exactly when they ran out of Mk1 Boot lids and phased in the Mk2 boot lids. I have enough original examples here and over the 50 years of restoring Mini's, enough experience to know, it's got what it's got. If it looks original it probably is original. But in this case upon further examination the boot lid has the wrong seal and missing screws for the trunk latch which would indicate in all probability it's been changed. I went and looked at 3 original 1967 Mk1's in my collection with early to mid year 1967 production dates and they have single skin bootlids. All my 1966's have single skin. The trunk lid was stoved in and I ordered a new one which had no interior skin. This particular example looks solid in all the places that my car soon developed rot. I've been looking for my car to appear on BAT, and being of the same color combo, I was especially interested...but not to buy. I think I can attribute my tinnitus at least partly to that car and my second go round with a 67 Cooper S in the 90s. Still love those cars. I bought and E Mini Cooper 2 years ago.
